I started reselling on ebay in October 2018 and have made a decent amount of profit so far. I’ve learned a lot since I first started and I would like to share some ideas with you. In this blog post, I will give you some tips and tricks on what to sell when you’re getting started.
If you are new to reselling on ebay, then you should start by selling items from around your house. You can sell old books and electronics that you don’t need or want anymore. ebay has become a complicated and underrated selling site and it’s hard to prepare someone for reselling. Everyone makes mistakes when they first get started, including myself, and it’s best to get a little practice in before you start buying inventory and selling.
Two important things to consider when starting out on eBay:
- Feedback
- Variety
Positive feedback is the most important thing to consider for eBay sellers. Any new seller with a feedback rating below 10 is going to have a difficult time getting potential buyers. The first 100 sales can be the hardest because buyers look for high feedback sellers when buying a product. Getting Top Rated status is the ultimate goal for buyer reassurance and seller discount on final value fees.

Having a variety of items for sell is another important factor when reselling on eBay.
Some of the first items I sold was a video game that I had barely played. I wrote what I thought was a full description, and tried my best with SEO and using keywords to rank my item high on eBay. You can check out my blog post about My Experience With SEO.
After some practice with old unwanted stuff from around the house, I recommend buying small wholesale lots of products and trying them out to see how they sell on eBay. It would be best to buy a product that targets a specific group of people. An example would be when a new phone comes out and you sell protective cases for that particular phone.
Here are a couple of good ideas for products you can sell as stated by SaleHoo:
Clothing : accessories, plus sizes, maternity wear , night wear.
Kitchen : recipes, knife sets, toasters, microwaves
Beauty : sunscreen, insect repellent, cosmetic & toiletry bags, men’s grooming
Home decor : towels, sheets, rugs, throws, cushions, vases, mirrors
Special occasion : wedding supplies, party supplies, mother-of-the bride outfits, bridal shoes, birthday cards
Garden : lawn mowers, gardening tool sets, composter

It is absolutely necessary that you watch what’s happening in the news if you want to pick up on new and upcoming trends. You must watch out for what you hear and read for product opportunities.
Always remember to start by selling what you already have around the house to get some experience at selling online before you go on to sourcing and selling wholesale items that you can find on SaleHoo.
As always make sure you Get This Money!!!!
