How To Save More Money

Saving money isn’t easy, and to keep saving is even more difficult. For me, it’s always easy to start but I sometimes found myself not reaching my goals or caving in too soon. After a while I decided to set up a detailed plan to save more money, and to get extra money.

  • Create A Budget
  • Cancel any Unused Subscriptions
  • Set up automatic savings
  • Do Online Surveys
  • Find Something To Save For

Create A Budget

Creating a budget is the first and most important step. Sit down and figure out your expenses. Start with the most important like food, rent, utilities etc. then move to saving and lastly, leisure expenses. Set a specific amount you plan to spend either monthly or Bi-weekly. To ensure you don’t dip into the other most important expenses, try using cash to keep things seperate.

Cancel any Unused Subscriptions

If you’re not using it, it’s wasting your money! When I started this journey there were a few apps I’ve subscribed to and only used once a month. When setting up my budget and going through my expenses, I’ve noticed a few subscriptions I completely forgot about. Scroll through your expenses for things you don’t use/need and cut them off. You’ll find you have more money in your pocket to save.

Set-Up Automatic Savings

Most Banks/Credit Unions have options where you can save your spare change. Apps like Acorns and Qapital save your spare change and invest them for you. This step is the most effortless and easy way to save more money for the things you want/need.

Another effortless way to save is by splitting your direct deposit. Set a certain amount to go into your savings account so you don’t have to. Simply forget about it, and watch your savings grow.

Do Online Surveys

To get a little extra money to save you can sign up to do paid online surveys. I did this for a while and made some cash. It’s good if you want to make some extra money on the side. You can do this in your spare time on your mobile device.

Find Something To Save For

All of the above steps and tips mean nothing, if you’re not working toward anything. What helped me save more money and to keep saving, was my goal for financial peace. I want to retire early and live as comfortable as possible, and that’s not possible if I don’t have a goal to save for.
